HOLT & BALCOM LOGGING CAMP

The Holt and Balcom Logging Camp No. 1 was one of the last logging camps to stop operation, finally closing in the late 1920s.  To our best belief, after much research, the Holt and Balcom camp is the oldest logging camp in the United States on its original site.  In 1950 the camp was given to the Oconto County Historical Society.  In 1970 it passed to the McCauslin Lions Club which restored and maintained the building and began offering tours.  In 2007 it again reverted to the Oconto County Historical Society.  For more information contact Kathie Marsh at kathiemarsh@yahoo.com.
